Summary: SS type cars using the Dash Jet and Aurora Tuff One chassis.
1. Base Chassis
1.1 The Dash Jet chassis must have the traction magnet removed.
1.2 Modifications – Chassis base must remain stock except the chassis floor adjacent to
the pickup shoes tabs may be trimmed 1/8 inch to allow the use of aftermarket pick up
shoes. No other venting, lightening or trimming allowed. Chassis gear plate must remain
stock without modifications with the exception that the rails running from front to back along
each side may be trimmed to facilitate lowering of the body. Bearing holes must remain
stock on the base and plate. No bushings or ball bearings allowed. No weight may be added to the
chassis. Guide pins must be O.E.M. or stock replacement plastic only. Guide pins may be glued.
2. Armature
2.1. The following armatures may be used: 2 lamination Aurora, JL/AW, Dash. The Dash 3 lamination armature may also be used.
Minnimum 16 ohms.
2.3. Modifications
2.3.1. Balancing and Truing legal.
2.3.2. Re-winds/de-winds – none allowed
2.3.3. Spacers permitted
2.3.4. Commutator timing must remain as it came from the manufacturer.
3. Electrical System
3.1. Base plates – stock, no modifications, no soldering, no shunting.
3.2. Brushes – copper/carbon composite only and must be O.E.M. or direct replacement. Brushes may be X-ed or grooved.
3.3 Brush Springs may be bent to allow better brush tension.
3.4 Shoes.- Any direct replacement pick up shoes and similar T-Jet type replacements such as BSRT,Slottech and Wizzard brands. Regular or long step permitted. Ski Shoes are not permitted. May be tweaked. Shoes may be restricted.
3.5 Any pickup shoe springs permitted. Shims permitted.
4. Magnets
4.1. Type – Ceramic magnets from the following are legal : Aurora T-Jet, Model Motoring Inc., Johnny Lightning ThunderJet/ Auto World and Dash Jet, AFX magnets including Super II’s are allowed. Dash Killer Bee's allowed.
4.2. Modifications – May be sanded to fit the chassis..
4.3. Shims – non-ferrous material allowed.
4.4. Any magnets that are questionable will be checked with a peter meter.
5. Gears
5.1. Armature gear must be OEM or stock replacement brass 14 tooth. 24 tooth idler and 24 tooth driven gears.
5.2. Drive pinion - must be OEM 14TDash Jet and Tuff Ones may use a 9 tooth or 14 tooth brass driven gear.
5.3. Crown gear - 15 tooth plastic OEM or stock replacement. Minimum diameter .300. Gear hub may be shaved or spacers added to maintain proper mesh.
5.4. Any cluster gear shaft may be used.
5.5. Modifications - None allowed. No beveled or lightened gears. Gears may be polished. Shims and spacers
permitted. Solder or glue may be used to attach gears to shafts. Excessive solder that adds significant
weight will not be allowed.
5.6. Gear plate rails may be cut or sanded only for the purpose of lowering the body and shall only be cut or sanded to the level of the top surface of the gear plate. Rails must remain intact under the gear clip. No modifications allowed
6. Axles – Any. The front axle may be glued into the chassis.
7. Wheels – Any.
8. Tires – Any front tires. Rear tires must be slip on silicones .
9. Body Specifications
9.1. Bodies must be a hard-shell injection molded or resin cast unless noted. No lexan bodies.
9.2. Bodies must be attached to the chassis by 2 screws and body posts.
9.3. The body classes are as follows:
a. Fairgrounds (Mid 50’s - Mid 70’s American Muscle and Pony cars). There are no glass requirements.
Dirt Late Models/Super Late Models

NASCAR Whelen Modifieds & Craftsman Truck Specifications
These 2 classes utilizes the Aurora Magna-Traction and the AW X-Traction chassis with the very popular
NASCAR Whelen type Modifieds and the Craftsman Truck series.
1. Base Chassis
1.1 Manufacturer – Aurora, Auto World Magna-Traction or X- Traction.
1.2 Modifications – Chassis may be modified, cut, altered. Bushings legal. No ball bearings
2. Armature
2.1 Manufacturer – O.E.M. Aurora, JL, AW and both 2 & 3 lamination Dash legal.
2.2 Minimum 14 ohms.
2.3 Laminations – 2 or 3 laminations.
2.4 Balancing and truing allowed.
2.5 Re-winds/de-winds – not allowed.
3. Electrical System
1. Manufacturer – No restrictions.
4. Magnets
4.1 Type – ceramic only. O.E.M. Aurora/JL/AW
4.2 Modifications – May be sanded.
4.3 Shims – non-ferrous material allowed.
5. Gears – No restrictions.
6. Axles - No restrictions.
7. Wheels - No restrictions
1. Manufacturer – any.
2. Wheel base – maximum width 1 and 5/16 inch.
8. Tires
8.1 Manufacturer - any
8.2 Slip-on silicone rear tires only
8.3 Width requirements –Front minimum width 3/16. Rear – No restrictions.
8.4 All 4 tires must be on the track.
9. Body Specifications
9.1 Whelen Modified bodies may be resin cast, scratch built or hard shell injection molded for modifieds. No Lexan.
9.2 Numbers required on both doors and roof..
9.3 NASCAR / Whelen Modified bodies must be that of the Modern Era of Modified Stock Car racing 1990-present.
9.4 Details are not mandatory but are encourage.
9.5 Truck bodies that are legal may be bought from E-Bay seller
Jalopy and Indy Champ Car Specifications
Pre Modified Coupe Era (late 50’s – early 60’s), when it seemed like every town had a bullring.
Often referred to as a "poor man's modified".. The Champ Cars are a tribute to pre rear engine Indy cars prior to (1965) when names like AJ Foyt.
Mario Andretti and others ruled. Same specs.as the Jalopy's just swap bodies.
1. Base Chassis
1.1 Manufacturer - Only the copper T-jet chassis from Aurora, Dash, ThunderPlus from Model Motoring Inc. and Wizard are legal.
1.2 Modifications – Chassis base must remain stock without modifications. No venting, lightening or trimming
allowed. Chassis gear plate must remain stock without modifications
with the exception of the rails running from front to back along each side may be trimmed.
Bearing holes must remain stock on the base and plate. No metal bearings allowed. No weight may be added
to the chassis.
2. Armature
2.1. O.E.M. Aurora and Model Motoring Inc. stock 2 lam motors, both Dash 2 and 3 lam motors with a minimum 16.0 ohms.
2.2. Modifications - None. No balancing, truing, re-winds/de-winds.
3. Electrical System
3.1. Base plates – stock copper, no modifications, no soldering, no shunting.
3.2. Brushes – copper/carbon composite only and must be O.E.M. shaped, Thunder Brushes or Wizzard brands.
Scoring (X-ing) of motor brushes will be legal.
3.3. Shoes - O.E.M. stock copper pick up shoes or similar T-Jet copper replacements such as
BSRT and Wizzard brands. Regular or long step shoes permitted. May be tweaked.
4. Magnets
4.1. Type –Aurora T-Jet, AFX, Super II, Dash or JL/AW only.
4.2. Modifications – Ends of JW/AW may be sanded to fit, no other modifications allowed.
4.3. Shims – non-ferrous material allowed.
5. Gears
5.1. O.E.M Aurora only.
5.2. Modifications – None allowed. No beveled or lightened gears. Gears may be polished.
Solder or glue may be used to attach gears to shafts. Excessive solder that adds significant
weight will not be allowed.
5.3. Arm pinion – stock brass 14 tooth.
5.4. Idler – stock brass 24 tooth.
5.5. Driven – stock brass 24 tooth.
5.6. Drive pinion – stock brass 9 tooth.
5.7. Crown – stock plastic 15 tooth.
6. Axles – Any axle permitted.
7. Wheels - Any wheel permitted.
7.1. must run the Aurora Truck, Hot Rod, Dune Buggy rims or after market double flanged rims
provided that they are the same dimensions as the Aurora Truck, Hot Rod, Dune Buggy rims
8. Tires
8.1. Black tires only.
8.2. Maximum tire width 0.175 in.
8.3. Minimum tire diameter 0.445 in. front, 0.460 in. rear
8.4. Tires must be slip on silicone or hard rubber.
9.0 Jalopy Body and Champ Cars Specifications
9.1. Hard-shell (Injection, resin cast) body.
9.2. Two screws must be used to mount the body to the chassis.
9.3. Body may be lowered and lightened but not weighted. Minimum height 0.900 inches for Jalopy's. No open roof's, roof must be enclosed.
9.4. Fender wells may be cut for tire clearance. Front fenders may be removed for jalopy's.
1930 - 1949 American 2 door hard top and coaches may be used for jalopy's. For Champ Cars only front engine bodies
may be used.
SK Modifieds Specifications
1. Only the Tomy 1.7 Mega G+ chassis legal. Must be stock. No aftermarket parts permitted except the following:
1.1 Viper replacement pick up shoes.
1.2 Pickup springs may be changed or modified.
2. The traction magnets must be a minimum height (recessed) 0.022 when measured from the bottom of the chassis.
3. Only Whelen and SK Modified 3D bodies from Shapeways permitted. Bodies must be presented in a decent eye appealing manner
in regards to being painted and details. Nerf Bars must be present but may be replaced with other materials.
Numbers must be on both doors and the roof of the body.
TFX Classes
There will be 2 classes for the TFX chassis : Hobby Stock which are HOCOC owned, prepared and maintained. and Pro Stocks. The purpose of these classes is to provide the racer with a competitive cost effective race car. The Hobby Stocks is intended for novices and drivers of intermediate skill levels. When a driver has won 2 of these events he
will no longer be able to compete in the Hobby Stock events.
1. Base Chassis
1.1 Only the OS3 TFX chassis legal.
1.2 Modifications – None. Chassis must remain as it came from the factory.
2. Armature
2.1. Only the TFX 16.5 ohm armatures may be used for both Hobby Stock Trucks and Pro Stocks.
2.2. Modifications - None. Balancing, Truing, Dewinding and Gluing are not allowed.
2.3.3. Spacers are not allowed.
2.3.4. Commutator timing must remain as it came from the manufacturer.
3. Electrical System
3.1. Modifications:: None allowed on the brush tabs or shoe hangers.
3.2. Brushes – . Pro Stocks are permitted to slot or X the brushes.
3.4 Shoes.- Only the OS3 TFX pickup shoes allowed. Shoes may be tweaked for flatness.l .Shoes may be restricted for travel They may be also. be adjusted for flatness.
3.5 Pickup Springs - Only the OS3 TFX pickup springs legal.
4. Magnetf
4.1 Gray Dragons.only.
4.2. Modifications – None allowed..
4.3. Shims – Not allowed.
5. Gears
5.1. All gears must be OS3 TFX gears.
5.2. Modifications - None allowed. Gears may be broken in with polish.
5.3. Crown gears - Hobby Stock Trucks must run a 19T gear. Pro Stocks may use either a 15T or 19T gears
5.4. Cluster gear shaft must be OS3 TFX.
5.5. Spacers not permitted.
5.6. Gear Plate - No modifications allowed.
5.6 Gear Plate Clamp - May not be altered except the sides may be bent in for a better fit on the chassis.
6. Axles – Only OS3 TFX axles may be used. Both the Short and Long axles in both materials (Tungsten & Stainless Steel) may be used. Spacers
are not permitted. Hobby Stock Trucks maximum length 1.125. Pro Stocks maximum length 1.3125.
7. Wheels – Only OS3 TFX front wheels may be used. No modifications allowed. The Hobby Stock Trucks must run the OS3 TFX rear wheels.
No modifications allowed. The Pro Stocks may use aftermarket wheels.
8. Tires – Front tires must be OS3 TFX. Only sizes .340 and .355 may be used. Rear tires for the Hobby Stock Trucks must use OS3 TFX rear tires
in either .352 and .378 sizes. Rear tires for the Pro Stocks may use aftermarket tires with no size restrictions.
9. Body Specifications
9.1. Hobby Stock Truck bodies that are legal are the 2022 NASCAR Chevy, 2022 NASCAR Toyota and 2022 NASCAR Ford. These can be purchased
on e-bay from seller msch2318. Order the T-Jet version.
9.2 Pro Stock Bodies that are legal are '71 Camaro, '70 Mustang, '75 Ventura, 72' Camaro, '76 Granata, '77 Firebird, '73 Camaro, 79 Buick, '74 Hornet.
'75 Camaro, Chrysler Kit Car, '81 Camaro, '81 Malibu. '79-81 Firebird. These can be ordered from Paul "Butch Gilbertson. He is on FB as Butch's Slot Car Bodies.
9.2. Bodies must be attached to the chassis by 2 screws and body posts.
9.3. Bodies must be painted and decaled. Numbers must be on both doors.
9.4 Pro Stocks must run a full windshield. No glass requirements for the Trucks.
Any matter, Situation or Specification, not discussed in this rulebook will be determined by the HOCOC
Board of Directors. Their decision is final.
